Bonanza was one of the first westerns on television to be broadcast in colour. The film revolved around the Cartwrights who were a fictional family of ranchers who lived in close proximity to Virginia City Nevada a real mining town in the mid 1800s. He played Cartwright, the oldest Cartwright child whose mother Marie was French Creole. She had been widowed when her son passed away from fever during the episode Marie My Love.
