April Ross
April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball stars to capture medals at multiple Olympics. She will be competing in Tokyo for her third Olympic gold medal along with Alix Klineman who is a first time Olympian. Ross is determined to earn more than her initial Olympic medal. Perhaps this is her only opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. Nevertheless she is confident that winning the gold medal is in reach. Ross was reported by NBC Boston as saying that when you perform at your very highest, and even perform well, you will win the gold. That's why I'm taking some luck too. Ross born the 22, 1982, in Costa Mesa California. She resided there together with her parents. Her athletic career was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she played in a variety of activities. In addition to playing indoor volleyball, she also was a basketball player and also ran track in her pre-college days. She was clearly the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. As a time at the high school level, according to her college profile, she played as an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. The award was presented to her as by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999, for her performance. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her for volleyball. Ross and Klineman might have started working together at the beginning of 2017, but Ross was already an established player at the beach before they joined forces. As a matter of fact Ross has won a number of major tournaments in her career together with two other partners. One of them is a legend. From 2007 to 2013 she was in a partnership with Jennifer Kessy, who is now her coach. Alongside Kessy Ross was an ace on the international circuit winning an international title in 2009. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were beaten out for the gold by the legendary team comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. Both went on to win the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross began her college professional career playing for the Trojans of USC after her high school days. This was years before Ross hit the beach and became a pro. Her time at USC was a memorable one. When she was a freshman at the school in 2000 she fought her way to Pac-10 as well as NCAA All-American Freshman of Year honors and earned an All-American. She also helped her Trojans to reach the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal loss in her sophomore, yet was successful in achieving the All-American award. The two years following her she led the Trojans up to the summit and took home consecutive national championships. As an individual, she cemented her place as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award is given to the top female college volleyball players in the United States. Ross was an international relations student at USC. Margie Ross did not get to see Ross become the highest beach volleyball levels. In 2001 when Ross was in her sophomore year studying at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. However, she continues to remember her deceased parent close and close. Margie at the beach as well as in everyday life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
