Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a tradition that blends family scholarship football and volunteering for the community. First of all the Selmons were raised by Lucious and Jessie Selmon on an agricultural property near Eufala located in Oklahoma as the youngest of the nine children they had. Also, he was one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma on the field of football. The three brothers were all All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi Award for being the nation's best lineman. For three seasons as the team's starter, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and won two national championships. Third scholarship he was named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy's fourth service was ten-hours per week in volunteer work during college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in business. He was hired in 1988 as an Account Relations officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the 10 most notable young men in the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs in his college days. He played for the team of 1975. He was promoted to the assistant director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of his way into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
